How we can help

Our psychologists can help your child navigate changes and issues through various appropriate psychological interventions. We are here to assist them in expressing themselves and addressing difficult topics. We can also support you in conversations with your children.

Several reasons a child or adolescent may benefit from our experienced psychologists include, but are not limited to, the following issues:

Parental divorce, illness, or moving to a new environment or events that are generally considered positive but emotionally charged and disrupt routines such as gaining a new family member, starting new tasks can trigger extreme emotional responses in children, adolescents, and even adults called adjustment disorders. This condition - sometimes called situational depression - involves severe emotional or behavioral reactions to specific life stressors or a series of stressors.
People with adjustment disorders respond to life stressors in ways that are far above what is expected or culturally or socially sought after in their daily lives. For example, they may have difficulty learning or focusing on work. People with adjustment disorders may also experience anxiety and depression. They may behave inappropriately, have problems at school or work, and withdraw from others. To avoid self-diagnosis, please contact our team to get the right psychological diagnosis and intervention to deal with your issues.

All young children sometimes show impulsive or challenging behavior. Sometimes, this is part of normal emotional reactions. But if this behavior is extreme or outside the norm for their developmental level, it can be a sign of a behavioral disorder.

The most common behavioral disorders in children are:

* Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): ADHD is a disorder that causes difficulty in focusing attention. It can also cause hyperactivity and impulsivity.
There are several subtypes of ADHD, with the diagnosis depending on the symptoms most frequently exhibited by the child. To avoid self-diagnosis, please contact our team to get the right psychological diagnosis and intervention to deal with your issues.

* Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD): Children and adolescents with ODD display a pattern of ongoing hostile behavior toward authority figures, such as parents, caregivers, or teachers. Unlike behavioral disorders, children with ODD tend to violate minor rules rather than major rules and social norms.
Potential signs of ODD include:
temper tantrums and quick anger, argumentative behavior, such as constantly questioning rules, continuous stubbornness, which can manifest as refusal to follow instructions or apologize for provocative behaviors, such as intentionally disturbing or making others upset, resentful or vengeful attitudes. All these symptoms have persisted for 6 months or more. To avoid self-diagnosis, please contact our team to get the right psychological diagnosis and intervention to deal with your issues.

* Conduct disorder (CD): Those with CD tend to violate basic social rules and the rights of others. This can have a significant impact on one's academic, social, and home life. It can develop either in childhood or adolescence. Symptoms of CD include aggression, which can lead to physical fights, bullying behavior, forcing someone to engage in sexual activities, or cruelty to animals, destruction of property, such as burning or damaging property, deception, such as lying or deceiving others, significant rule violations, such as not going to school, running away, or stealing. Many young people with CD have difficulty interpreting others' behavior. For example, they may believe someone is hostile toward them when they are not. This leads them toward aggressive or violent behavior.
People with CD may also have difficulty feeling empathy or have other conditions, such as anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder, that affect their thoughts and behaviors. If CD first manifests before the age of 11, it is likely to persist into early adulthood. Students in elementary, middle, and high school settings face various ongoing stressors related to academic demands. Academic-related stress can decrease academic achievement, lower motivation, and increase the risk of dropping out. Long-term impacts, including decreased likelihood of sustainable job opportunities, also affect students' learning capacity and academic performance, mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety, sleep disturbances, and drug use. Every child is different. Self-esteem and confidence may be easier for some children than others. And some children face things that can lower their self-esteem. But even if a child's self-esteem is low, it can be raised. To avoid self-diagnosis, please contact our team to get the right psychological diagnosis and intervention to deal with your issues.

It is normal for children, like adults, to experience emotional ups and downs. For some children, feeling 'down' for a long time can be a sign of depression. If your child's mental health interferes with social activities, interests, school tasks, or family life, it's time to seek help. Depression and anxiety in children can be caused by many things, including: Alcohol or drug use, environment (including family issues), family history (other family members experiencing depression), physical illness, stressful life events.

What are the signs of depression in children?
Parents and caregivers should pay attention to the following signs of depression in children: Behavioral problems at school, changes in eating or sleeping habits, feelings of sadness or hopelessness, lack of interest in enjoyable activities, low energy levels or general fatigue, mood swings, such as quick anger. Thoughts of suicide, although less common, young children also attempt suicide. Because this world is not set up for children with childhood disorders, many people with one or both diagnoses require support for their daily lives, jobs, finances, or other areas so that they are expected to be able to live independently in the future. We facilitate children with childhood disorders with various therapies and interventions that optimize their abilities, certainly with the support of families and all parties. Anger is usually expressed differently depending on the child's age. Anger is not always bad; it can be used strategically to help children or adolescents pursue their goals and, to some extent, motivate them to find a happier and healthier life in the long run.
However, when misplaced or out of control, it can damage relationships and even lives. In children or adolescents, severe angry behavior can lead to chronic mental and physical health conditions over time. It is therefore essential for children or adolescents to understand and manage how they think, feel, and act even when they are angry. Separa anxiety disorder consists of persistent and excessive anxiety beyond what is expected for a child's developmental level related to separation or impending separation from attachment figures (e.g., primary caregivers, close family members) as demonstrated by at least 3 of the criteria from the DSM-5. Separation anxiety disorder in children is closely associated with serious school refusal behavior involving serious emotional issues that stress children and parents. It can have significant short-term and long-term effects on a child's social, emotional, and academic development. Emotional issues, such as anxiety, moodiness, depression, emotional issues include irregular and difficult eating behaviors, low self-esteem, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) tend to occur in childhood. Often difficult to identify early by parents or other caregivers because many children have not yet developed the vocabulary and understanding to express their emotions properly. It is also difficult for parents or caregivers to distinguish between normal developmental emotions (e.g., fear, crying) from severe and prolonged emotional stress that should be considered a disorder. Sleep is one of the basic human needs, including in children, the sleep needs for all ages are different. Sleep is a state of reduced responsiveness and interaction with the environment that is reversible and occurs quickly. Sleep disturbances can occur in children with manifestations of difficulties at the onset of sleep, maintaining sleep, or sleep disturbances related to breathing. The causes of sleep disturbances can be internal or external. Environmental factors can affect sleep quality in children, as can behavior and habits associated with sleep disturbances. Eating disorders in children and adolescents present serious threats to health and well-being, including medical consequences ranging from growth delays to hunger and life-threatening effects (Reference Nicholls, Hudson and MahomedNicholls 2011).
